Services: Fabrication and Modifications
Modification and Fabrication
Not every person with a disability is able to utilize standard, off-the-shelf equipment. Modification & Fabrication capabilities are a valuable service that enhances the appropriateness of an assistive technology device for an individual consumer. Our skilled team of clinicians and rehabilitation technologists apply their combined talents to create effective solutions.
By having access to specialized materials and an extensive workshop, we are able to blend art and science to modify commercial products and fabricate equipment not otherwise available. This unusual capacity to customize solutions optimizes a person's ability to benefit from assistive technology.

Rapid Prototyping in the Workplace
Assistive Technology (AT) failures and abandonment in the workplace is high. It is rare that a solution provided on day one is 100% successful. A multitude of adjustments is often required in order to achieve the best solution. Trial and error is a critical process in AT implementation.. In industry, new products are tested up to five years before they are ever released to the public. Yet we become impatient and disappointed when something doesn't work for a person with a disability on the first try. We need to accept that this is just a part of the problem solving process, and at that same time continually strive to improve the timeliness of this process, so workers don't have to wait months for a solution. Rapid prototyping is a creative problem solving approach to help employees and employers reduce extensive 'wait' time for a solution. ATECH Services has a variety of assistive technology solutions and fabrication tools and materials that can be brought out to the worksite for exploration, trials and fabrications of potential solutions in order to determine the most appropriate worksite accommodation.
